Let’s Invest in the Future Together!

Making Steady Progress in Sustainability

The Borusan Group has been a part of the UN Global Compact since 2006. This commitment encompasses all our organisations, including Borçelik, Borusan Cat, Borusan Pipe, Borusan Otomotiv Group and Borusan EnBW Energy. This unity is what underpins our vision of doing our part for sustainability and global issues.

Our Zero Waste-Certified Facilities

Aiming for zero waste in all stages of production, we keep waste to a minimum and encourage recycling. We maintain these efforts and continually develop new strategies to improve them.

Innovative and Sustainable Business Solutions

We at Borusan Cat believe that sustainability is not just an environmental matter but vital for the whole world. We apply the Borusan Group’s I3 approach (Climate, People, Innovation) to protect the environment and work for an inclusive society where everyone is equal. Our environmentalist attitude, egalitarian approach and sustainable development goals shape the solutions we produce.

  • The Borusan Group has been a part of the UN Global Compactsince 2006. This is what underpins our duty towards sustainability and global issues.
  • We publish the Borusan Integrated Annual Report, demonstrating Borusan Cat’s commitment to transparency and sharing our environmental and social benefit goals
  • In 2022, we joined ‘The Green Organisation’ and received the ‘Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice,’ earning the title of ‘Green World Ambassador.

Value Creating Solutions for the Environment

We at Borusan Cat work to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and take steps to minimise our ecological footprint. Our goals in combating climate change include:

*Revision centresare specialized facilities where used, worn-out, or malfunctioning equipment is inspected, repaired, or refurbished. These centers extend the lifespan of machinery and components by restoring them to optimal working conditions, contributing to the circular economy by reducing the need for new production and minimizing waste.

Zero Waste

We gained the Zero Waste Certificate by making our plants all over Türkiye conform to the Zero Waste Regulation*. e sort waste at the source and set up temporary storage areas based on waste type for recycling.

Water Management

We believe that water should be used effectively and efficiently. We have started collecting rainwater in our revision centres to reach our goals of managing water sustainably and reducing environmental impact. By using the collected rainwater to wash our machinery we avoid wasting fresh water and save tons of water in the process. We at Borusan Cat contribute to a healthy future for our planet by supporting the conscious use of water resources.

Reducing Plastic Waste

In our bid to reduce plastic consumption, we have stopped using plastic bottles and switched instead to thermos flasks and water purification systems. We have Borusan Cat employees produce personalised thermoses and flasks, and we aim to stop the use of plastic bottles in all our facilities.

Solar Power Systems

We have installed solar power systems to expand the use of clean energy sources. We use green energy to meet our needs at our plant in Adana and are continuing to switch to the same practice at our other plants. Furthermore, by including solar power solutions in our portfolio, we can offer them to our customers and do our part for sustainability.

*The Zero Waste Regulation is a set of guidelines and standards aimed at minimizing waste production and promoting efficient waste management by encouraging reduction, reuse, and recycling practices. It typically mandates the sorting of waste at its source and the proper disposal of materials to achieve a “zero waste” goal, meaning no waste is sent to landfills or incineration.

Equality and Inclusion for All Borusan Equals

We at Borusan Cat have a vision of creating a fair and accessible world regardless of gender, race, religion, ethnic origin, or age. We have made social benefit a priority goal and care about stakeholder participation in our operational areas.

Our people-oriented goals include:

and more.

Projects Supporting Equal Opportunities and Women’s Empowerment in our Sector

We are a people-oriented company with a progressive approach to sustainability. We know that valuing people is the way to a sustainable future. We at Borusan Cat have always promoted inclusion and regard offering equal opportunities for professional development as part of our corporate culture.

We blend our experience in the sector with the development areas provided by our customers who are all leaders in their fields. We strive to create equality in all the areas where we work. We launched a campaign with our customers in Türkiye to train women as construction machinery operators. Furthermore, another project we are running with a customer in Kazakhstan gives women theoretical and practical training on mining trucks.

We will transcend international borders. We are going to continue empowering women in business and taking steps in support of equal opportunities in our sector.

Pioneering Innovation in the Sector

Inspired by moving beyond current business models and designing future ones, we at Borusan Cat encourage innovation and enterprise.

Our innovation-oriented goals include:

We use our B’DAHA (AGAIN) business model to do our part for the circular economy. We take expired or broken-down equipment from our customers and give it a new lease of life at our revision centres. We offer renovated parts as a more economical alternative backed by Borusan Cat assurances and warranty. This method reduces the resources used to produce something from scratch and allows us to contribute to the cycle of reuse by stopping them from being scrapped.

Some of our Proactive Business Models and Solutions:

Boom360 / Müneccim / Sound Diagnostics

Commonly used in our sector, the reactive business model requires action after failure and usually results in scrap or waste being created; furthermore, it doesn’t support sustainable resource use. We at Borusan Cat have gone beyond this reaction approach and applied a proactive model to our business processes. We now predict malfunctions before they happen and work interactively with our customers to develop solutions.

Our AI tool, Müneccim, accessible on Boom360, uses equipment-mounted sensors to collect data which we then analyse. This allows us to detect potential faults proactively. Furthermore, with our Sound Diagnostic app, we are reducing the use of service vehicles, resulting in fewer carbon emissions.

Our digital solutions extend machinery lifespans, prevent their components from being turned into scrap, and reduce our carbon footprint by utilising resources.

A sustainable future is as certain as the day is long.

You can make a sustainable future possible by applying these principles to both at work and in your daily life.

Be informed: Measure your personal and corporate impact and plan what action to take.

Optimise: Reduce fuel and energy consumption by optimising how your vehicles, possessions and machinery consume energy.

Refuse: Refuse to use unnecessary materials and resources; choose environmentally alternatives over disposable products.

Undertake implementation: Implement simple practices: employ waste management systems at work and sort your rubbish at home.

Save Water: Choose techniques and products that save water and take steps to reduce water consumption in your daily life.

Alleviate: Review the production and reuse processes at work. Choose reusable products in your daily life.

Net Zero Emissions Target: Drive low-emission or emission-free vehicles and make use of the environmentally friendly transportation options in your life.

Courage: Motivate your family and teammates over sustainability; create communities or join exiting organisations.

Advance: Follow sustainable technologies and make your vehicles and possessions efficient.

Transition to Clean Energy: Switch to clean energy by using renewable energy systems (solar panels, wind turbines).
